Hamelin Town
 

Father Matthew Powell, O.P., a Catholic priest of the Dominican Order, has kindly provided this free script, "Hamelin Town". 

Father Powell serves as associate professor of theatre and lecturer in English at Providence College in Providence, R.I. where this adaptation of "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" was first performed in his class in oral interpretation of literature.

He holds an M.A. from Miami University (Ohio) and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Father Powell has taught speech, theatre and English at the junior high school, high school and college levels for thirty years. He is the author of two books of readers’ theatre plays: Performing Parables: Religious Folk Tales, Legends and Fables for Readers’ Theatre ( San Jose, CA: Resource Publications, Inc., 2000) and Speaking of Christmas: Plays for Readers’ Theatre (Lima, OH: CSS Publishing, Inc., 2005) as well as a readers’ theatre dramatization of The Canterville Ghost, based on the story by Oscar Wilde (Colorado Springs, CO: Meriwether Publishing, 1996).
