"Frogs Matter!"

2008 is the Year of the Frog and the Amphibian Ark program will soon be in full swing. Here's a way to introduce or reinforce the term "amphibians", highlight what's happening to amphibians around the world, and suggest ways students can help - all in a somewhat light-hearted and positive manner. This is an RT script for Intermediate to Advanced readers. Please click HERE.

"Mimic, Adapt, and Deceive!"

Sounds like this should be the title of an old black and white movie, but the script is really about nature. How do animals, insects, and plants make adjustments so that they can survive out there in the wild? Easy! They mimic, adapt, and deceive! If your class is studying nature, this might be a great teacher's aid for the unit! For more information, please click HERE.

CONCERNED ABOUT MANNERS AT YOUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL?

I recently did some storytelling at an elementary school and the librarian was lamenting the lack of manners and simple courtesy displayed by some of her students. With that said, the audience of K-5 students treated me with great courtesy and I thanked them for it. Even so, it seems good manners are a concern in many school communities. Scripts for Schools now has two script titles dealing with good and bad manners. For more information, please click HERE.

"The Book Report" - a combination Choral Reading/Readers Theater script created to teach or reinforce the 6 sections of a proper book report. Can teaching the organization of a book report really be fun? Well, give this script a try and let me know what you think! The script is very flexible and allows a director to use as few or as many readers as required by dividing the reading parts between all available readers. If the class is small, double up on solo parts. If the class is large, everyone can be included. For more information, please click HERE.

CH-61/RT-109 "The Game"

This script catches the essence of a high school basketball game in progress. Many of the sights, sounds, and excitement, as experienced by the crowd, are written into the script.

If you are a Choral Speaking/Reading director, you'll especially enjoy the many "onomatopoeia words" used in the rhyming text. This script is written with words that, when spoken aloud, sound like what they mean.

CH-59 "Yesterday"

"YESTERDAY" the world moaned, groaned, cried, and sighed about what has been happening to our environment. The world also wondered why we humans continue to blunder! So do the readers of this serious piece about our environmental woes. They face poluted soil, trash in the sea, chemicals in our water supplies, mass cutting of the rainforests, smog in the air, and over-consumption everywhere.
