TP-20 YOU ARE NOT ALONE

A Large Cast Traditional Play written to involve a cast of 30 by Sue Russell.

Here's a great play that can involve everyone in your class (or possibly a combination of 2 classes) to help promote anti-bullying.

Since the theme is important to all grade levels, this play would make a wonderful assembly program for the entire school. This is a Traditional Play Script, but could also be read aloud as a Readers Theater Script, if desired.

This script identifies different types of bullying and suggests strategies for both prevention and dealing with the problems. It looks at the problem of bullying from 2 perspectives: That of the ‘bully’ and the ‘bullied’. The script examines why bullies behave as they do and what it feels like to be on the receiving end. The most important message is that we are all special, that we should like ourselves the way we are, and that if we ever find ourselves being bullied, we should get help and talk to someone – never bottle the feelings up inside and ‘put up’ with this kind of behavior.

Songs that may be included in a production of this script, if desired:

1. We are the Champions – Queen
2. You’ve Got a Friend – James Turner
3. I like to boogie – T.Rex
4. You are not alone – Michael Jackson

NEW! TP-17 WIZARD OF MOPS

Dot is a new student at a new school with a rather bad attitude. Luckily, Dot learns an important lesson when Dot is thrown into a dream sequence. Taz, Rusty, Dandy, Fido, and the Wizard of Mops help teach her an important lesson about being nice to others and keeping an open mind. This play loosely mimics the Wizard of Oz story and deals with common school themes such as bullying, student/teacher respect, allergy awareness, and much more. Join blue-haired Bunchkins, Principal Yelly-Bottom, and Secretary Busy-Chomper as they demonstrate that, thankfully, things are not always as they appear.  This script is written as a traditional play, not as a readers theater script.

Cast Size: 16 speaking roles (including one offstage voice) and as many non-speaking roles as you want to incorporate.

Doubling: The actor who plays as Auntie Ann can double as another role.

Gender of Cast: The entire cast can be male or female accept Auntie Ann who is female. Names are generic in order to facilitate this.

Written by Mary Greenspan, Christine Harvey, and Elish Lee
Approximate Running Time: 40 minutes
