How The Robin Got Its Red Breast (Older Elementary School Readers)

A Sechelt band huddles together in a dark cave. They are running out of both food and wood to keep their fire burning. Grandfather comes up with a plan. He sends the men and women out into the forest to hunt and gather wood. Because he is old, Grandfather stays behind to take care of the children and tend the fire. But he falls asleep and the fire dies.

Enter the robin. What happens next becomes the stuff of legends!

CAST: CHILD, MOTHER, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, ROBIN and as many NARRATORS as you wish. Simply pencil in narrator numbers and divide the lines between your readers.
