In this script, evil fairytale characters unionize in order to obtain equal rights, better working conditions, insurance, benefits, and higher wages.
When the good fairytale characters are reluctant to comply with the evil characters requests, the wicked witch leads them in a strike. The evil characters eventually take the good characters hostage, forcing the king to seriously consider their proposals.
This play teaches children how to deconstruct fairytales and also gives them some insight into socialism. It is a fun way for kids to study and understand labour disputes, unions, and the negotiating process.
Performance Time: Approximately 45 minutes running time Readers: 25 speaking roles (non-speaking roles could be incorporated easily).
